Shunosaurus means Sichuan lizard, the province in China where it was discovered. Many fossils have been found, so almost all the bones have been identified. It is probably the best-understood sauropod. Equipped with a small neck and an upward-facing jaw, it could easily cut the branches of plants.
Its cylinder-shaped body extended with a tail equipped with a mass and probably 2 spikes. This was most likely used as a weapon to defend against large carnivores.
