The cotton-top tamarin is endemic to the forests of northwestern Colombia. It is easily recognizable by its white crest on top of its head. Unlike other tamarins, it does not have an opposable thumb on its front limbs. It lives in small family groups made up of a dominant pair and their young. The female always gives birth to twins. The whole group takes care of raising the young. The cotton-top tamarin has a long tail that it uses as a balance when jumping from branch to branch.
