The Amur leopard or North China leopard is one of the different subspecies of leopard, named after its distribution area in China and Russia along the Amur River. A carnivore, it feeds on deer, roe deer, wild boars, hares, and even badgers. Patient, it waits for its prey to come close enough before pouncing on it. Hunting techniques are passed down from mother to young, who may stay with her until they are 2 years old. Litters generally consist of 1 to 5 cubs weighing 600g and completely blind at birth.
