The giraffe is the tallest land mammal! A male can reach up to six meters, while females do not exceed five meters. At birth, the baby giraffe is already two meters tall! It stays with its mother and other members of the group, which consists of 10 to 70 individuals. This group moves according to food resources to eat their daily 66 kg of leaves, flowers and fruits. The long neck and 50 cm tongue allow them to reach the tallest leaves. Due to its size, the giraffe is considered the sentinel of the savannah. It spots predators from afar and leaves, quickly followed by the other smaller animals who have not yet noticed the threat.
