Brown bears live as much in Europe as in Asia or in North America. There are therefore many subspecies around the world. In France, it is the Eurasian subspecies that is present. It is a solitary and omnivorous animal that feeds on roots, berries, mushrooms, fish, and meat. To survive the winter, it eats more ahead of time to accumulate fat reserves and save itself as much as possible: this is hibernation. During this winter rest, the body temperature drops by 3 to 5 degrees. Nevertheless, it can wake up whenever it wants, to eat, give birth, or to face any danger.
