The Macaw is a species native to the tropical forests of South America. Its geographical range extends from Mexico to Brazil. These social birds live in large groups made up of several pairs that are faithful for life. During the day, each pair goes its own way in search of food. Their menus consist of fruit, nuts and seeds. The rest of the day is spent resting or strengthening the pair’s bond through close flights and feather preening sessions. At night, the individuals in the group gather and sleep together. These animals live for 40-50 years in the wild, but can reach 75 years in captivity.
