Fête de la Musique: When Music Meets the Animal Kingdom

To celebrate Fête de la Musique, Zoo d’Amnéville welcomes internationally acclaimed pianist Caroline Sageman for a special event included with admission.

Throughout the day on Saturday, June 20, three musical performances will take place throughout the zoo, close to the animals. This unique event reflects the mission of modern zoos: to raise awareness, help preserve the genetic diversity of species, and support scientific research.

While the effects of music on humans have been widely studied, its effects on animals remain an open question. This event offers a chance to observe how different species respond to classical music and gather valuable behavioral data.

The goal is not to conduct a formal scientific study, but to explore how music might support animal welfare. Could music enrich an animal’s environment, much like toys, scents, or habitat features? Observations from the day will help inform this discussion.

Beyond its educational and scientific value, this event offers visitors a unique chance to enjoy a special moment where art, nature, and discovery come together.
