Brachiosaurus

The brachiosaurus is part of the sauropod group and more specifically the brachiosaurid family. They were characterized by having front legs longer than their hind legs and a shorter tail. Hence its name, which means “arm lizard.” Its stature was reminiscent of a giraffe, with its head raised toward the sky.

In this way, it could, just like the giraffe, reach the tallest leaves on trees. These food resources were completely inaccessible to many other species. Like many dinosaur species, it is believed that the brachiosaurus did not chew its food but used its tongue to guide plants toward its throat. Their impressive stature suggests that these animals had to spend all day eating to meet their needs.

It is the only species of this size and weight for which a complete skeleton has been found.
