Monolophosaurus was discovered in 1984. Its name means “crested reptile”, it has an asymmetrical sagittal crest like the dilophosaurus. It lived along coasts and waterways in what is now China. This carnivore was 5 m long and 2 m high. Its weight ranged from 450 to 700 kg. It lived during the Middle Jurassic period, 157 to 154 million years ago.
